Maresca Discusses What City Saw in Elliot Anderson

Enzo Maresca has explained that Manchester City considered Elliot Anderson’s character as well as his ability before signing the midfielder from Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to City Studios in Seoul, Maresca described the 23-year-old as a “fantastic player” and also praised him as nice, humble and polite.

Anderson joined City after playing every Premier League match for Nottingham Forest last season.

Maresca said the club considers a player’s behaviour alongside their footballing ability when making decisions on potential signings.

He added that Anderson has “all these things” and said it would be a pleasure to work with him.

The comments came during Maresca’s interview with City Studios as City prepare for the 2026/27 season.
